Fears for Queers film fest scramble to complete lineup of LGBT-horror films for June event

With its humble grassroots origins, the Fears for Queers film festival has pulled off some impressive events the past couple of years. But this year is looking tough for organizers Shawn Ewert and Andrew Rose as content for this year’s FFQ is looking rather scarce. And they only have 17 days before the festival is scheduled to go on — or not. Rose posted this today on Facebook.

Rose had mentioned on his page that if the festival didn’t happen on June 30, they would consider moving it to coincide with Dallas Pride — that is if a venue is available. The festival now is scheduled to happen at the Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff. Like years before, proceeds from the festival will benefit Youth First Texas.

“It’s weird. We had a bunch of DVDs but when it boiled down to what we would and could show it was 17 minutes. Kinda caught us off guard,” Rose mentioned.

Interested filmmakers can submit their films to these guys and for the well-connected, Ewert and Rose probably wouldn’t mind you helping to get the word out.
