Barney is a handsome black-and-tan retriever-border collie mix. He’s 1 year old and full grown at 40 pounds. Barney is super-friendly, with a happy disposition and winning personality. He seems to be good with other dogs and never meets a stranger.
Barney and many other dogs, puppies, cats and kittens are available for adoption from Dallas Animal Services, 1818 N. Westmoreland at I-30, just minutes west of Downtown Dallas. The shelter is open Monday-Saturday 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Sundays 12 noon-5 p.m. The regular adoption cost is $85 for dogs and $55 for cats, but discounts are offered for older animals and those in the shelter longer than 45 days, and to senior citizens and those who adopt two animals at the same time. In addition, throughout the month of June, all adoptions are just $30 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. All dogs are tested for heartworms, and cats have been tested for FeLV.
